Aktzi (Freddy Gonzalez) | Classes: Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi

Aktzi has been a fitness professional since 1993. His goal is to help you achieve a better life style, posture and mobility. Aktzi has expertise in high/low impact workouts, strength and circuit training, Pilates, Yoga, stretch, dance and acrobatics. He can also customize a fitness individual fitness plans to move you toward wellness and good health.

 

Kristin Clement | Classes: Zumba

Kristin Clement has been exercising at Community Wellness Center since it opened in 1990, when she was just a kid. She loves group fitness and started attending Zumba classes in 2011. In 2016, she became a Zumba-certified instructor when the CWC's instructor at that time needed a reliable substitute. She provides a variety of Latin dance styles that are fun and easy to follow. She focuses on a new playlist each month so her students will learn music and choreography at a steady pace. Her favorite thing to say to new Zumba students, "We're not professional dancers, so relax and have fun!" When she's not teaching Zumba, Kristin enjoys participating in Pilates, water aerobics, interval training and powerlifting.

 

Steve Collett

Steve has over 30 years of experience in developing health and fitness programs for all ages and abilities. He specializes in weight loss, toning, balance, back rehab, bone and heart health, disease prevention and sport-specific training. He says, “Every person is an individual and responds differently to different stimuli. My goal is to create a program specifically for them so that they achieve their goals quickly and safely.”

Tracy Collett | Classes: Private Swimming Lessons

Tracy Collett has been teaching summer swim lessons for 30 years, and for the last 13, she’s been teaching them year-round. Tracy was MVP and Team Captain at North Clayton High School and then swam for the University of Georgia, competing in four SEC Championships and also earned the Peach of an Athlete award from the local Boy Scouts. She holds two state relay records and is currently ranked 10th nationally in the 200m breaststroke and 5th nationally, 8th in the World in the 800m free relay for Masters swimming. Tracy has also coached for 22 years from summer league to the Junior National level. She was the Junior Swim Team Coach at the Piedmont Driving Club for 17 years, so youngsters are her specialty. 

Tracy also works with our Wounded Warriors, helping coach injured, ill and wounded veterans and active duty Marines, soldiers and airmen and is the Head Coach for the SOCOM (Special Operations) team. Recently, she started volunteering with the Nautical Milers, a team for mentally disabled swimmers in the Atlanta area, and was asked to be a USA Team Coach for the Global Games in Ecuador this fall. 

Tracy teaches infant, toddler, beginner, and advanced lessons, including pre swim team, stroke technique, open water and triathlon training.

Ellen H. Jones | Classes: Cardio Sculpt, Pilates

Since 1992, Ellen has to maintained her instructor certification with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) through yearly continuing education courses and exams. She teaches or has taught Step, Piyo, Pilates, Cardio Sculpt, Core Strength, 20/20/20, Yoga, Chair Yoga and Zumba. Certifications and courses completed include: Yoga Fundamentals, Pilates Matwork, Step Aerobics, Exercise and Injury Rehabilitation, Resist-a-Ball Training, Kick Boxing, Core Training Anatomy, Low Back Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, Zumba, Dumbbell Training, Designing Strength Programs for the Knee, Exercise Programs for the Older Adults, Knee and Shoulder Injury Prevention, Exercise for Frail Elders, Optimal Muscle Training, HIIT, Foam Rolling and more!

 

Pat Kerr | Classes: 20/20/20

Pat has a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing from the University of Georgia. She was a speech therapist in Brevard N.C, and in the Southern Tier of New York state. While living in Rochester N.Y., she received her initial fitness instructor training. Her husband’s corporate moves took her to Pennsylvania and Colorado, where she started her own fitness business in both states. More moves followed to Raleigh, Boston and finally to Atlanta.

Pat started teaching at the Community Wellness Center in the late 90’s. She specializes in low impact cardio, strength training and stretch and relaxation exercises. She loves teaching at the here because of the wonderful people she’s met and taught over the years. Pat says, “It’s a very rewarding job being able to watch people improve their health and lives by discovering the benefits of exercise.”

 

Ronda Richardson: Classes: Private Swim Instructor

Ronda is an American Red Cross-trained swim instructor with 45 years experience teaching aquatic safety in lakes, rivers, oceans and pools. She is retired from YMCA USA where she was the swim team coach, stroke and turn judge, trainer of lifeguards and a general swim instructor. Ronda works with children, even challenging adolescent swimmers, to teach them good aquatic decisions. She also teach all six strokes, treading water, diving, flip turns.

Ciara Simone

Ciara Simone is a certified American Red Cross (ARC) Water Safety Instructor Trainer and has been with ARC for 20 years. She works with all swim levels from beginners to fitness swimmers, swim stroke development and special needs. Ciara is able to provide swim test evaluations for girl and boy scouts. She is very patient and has been a private swim instructor at the Community Wellness Center at Second-Ponce since 2004.

Chey Walls | Classes: Cardio Fusion, Station Nation, Step, Bootcamp, Piyo, Stretch & Tone, Cardio Dance Fusion

Chey has been a natural athlete all her life and she loves it! She never thought, however, of making a career out of her athleticism until after many years of feeling unfulfilled, incomplete and stressed with corporate life. She found the most happiness spending hours in the gym after work focusing on my own mental and physical fitness. 18 years later, and she is just as fulfilled and in love with what she does since day one.

Her approach to fitness is to develop a fit body through the development of a fit mind. With that philosophy, she motivates, inspires, uplifts, encourages and challenges people to dig deep within and pull out their best mental and physical self. With this thought process and application, she has helped and inspired many people to be Fit 4 Change.

 Her 16 years of fitness experience afforded her the opportunity to work with all ages and all levels of fitness, from Pre-K through the older adults. As a group fitness instructor, she develops fun functional class formats that fit and challenge all levels of fitness making the group fitness experience more inviting, fun and less intimidating.

As a Personal Trainer, she assesses client needs and develops progressive and challenging programs specific to the individual’s (or small group’s) level of fitness, goals and needs. She also offers machine training and tutorials, nutrition advisement and meal planning.

 

Shine (Tiambi) Walker | Classes: Rise w/ Shine, Aqua Aerobics, Chair Yoga

Shine Walker has been in the fitness world since 2010 when she decided to transform herself for a better quality of life. Since then, she has created classes and opportunities to help others reach their goals for weight loss, flexibility, muscle gain and strength, balance and agility, just to name a few. Shine is a certified fitness instructor, group fitness instructor, senior fitness instructor and certified in CPR and first aid with expert rating certified professionals. Previously, she was a local and international natural competitive bodybuilder where she placed first of five in her competition and 2nd place in two other contests. Now, Shine dedicates her experience, knowledge and FUN-FILLED personality to encouraging others to achieve the “Nex LVL Up” with a better quality of life.

 

JoAnne Westbrook | Classes: Yoga

JoAnne has been an instructor at the Community Wellness Center for over 20 years,  Although her focus is now primarily yoga, she holds certifications in Group Fitness and Personal training as well as yoga and has taught a great variety of classes during her many years here. JoAnne's approach to teaching is to recognize the experience and capabilities of each individual and to provide guidance and encouragement in a safe and supportive environment from which they may explore the ancient discipline of yoga.
